Description
Gibson Custom is pleased to announce the release of the Mark Knopfler 1958 Les Paul, a precise replica of Marks original 58, a favored live and recording companion of one of the most revered players and writers of our time.

As multi-platnum hit makers Dire Straits entered the second and most successful phase of their career, singer, songwriter and lead guitarist Mark Knopfler was looking for a new sound to change things up, and he found it in the powerful tone and sultry playing feel of a stunning original 58 Les Paul Burst.

This guitar's thick, meaty tone logged the signature riffs of many a hit, and became a cornerstone of this influential British guitarist's sound as a result.

The Mark Knopfler 1958 Les Paul is handcrafted by Gibson Custom after intense hands-on analysis of the original, to match the neck profile, top carve, look, feel, and tone of an exalted original 58 Burst.

Its lusciously faded sunburst finish (in a maximum of 100 hand-aged and 150 VOS guitars), select tonewoods, period-correct nickel hardware and plastics, tubeless Historic truss-rod, hide glue neck construction, carefully wound Custom Bucker PAF pickups, and more all add up to a guitar thatwith Mark Knopfler's full final approvalcomes closer to the original than you could ever imagine.
Known as - "Goldfinger" among collectors, Charles Daughtry's original 1957 Goldtop #7 3308 is as recognized for its tone as it is easily identifiable by its trademark finger wear around its cutaway.

Collector's Choicee #36 is the first Standard Historic Spec in the series for 2016 and is handcrafted based on digital analysis of the original as well as collaboration with its owner.

To pick up one of the Limited Run guitars and play it is to experience the tone, look and feel of #7 3308 just as Charles has since adding it to his collection.

You'll find CC#36 to be one of the most gorgeous sounding, excellent feeling and character-rich Les Pauls we've ever crafted.
